Dinner with Dorothy Miller and Daughters in New York

Dorothy is Dad's cousin from Saratoga. She has a great family and they keep track of the Herbert family geneology. They were in New York as her son was having knee surgery.

We had a lovely dinner at a casual Italian restaurant and I heard some great famly stories.

Saturday afternoon at Nana's

Here's the swim team, resting up after a series of cannonball jumps that caused mini-hurricanes in the Atrium's pool. Chooch was at home doing her school work but Bob, Jack, Namy and Sakshi came for a playful swim. Jack can swim like a "lovely catfish" but he is likes to wear his waterwings in the deep water. Friday night meant the weekly sleepover for Jack and Namy and this time they invited some of their Atrium friends to join in for popcorn and a movie (on the computer.) I was busy rocking my pressure cooker back and forth on the stove making popcorn the old-fashioned way. And that is what most weekends are like here. -- Mom

Kate Update

You guys are really keeping the blog up. Very impressive. And by you guys I mean Mom. :)

Here is what I have been up to in New York. I kicked off our first ever Mentoring Program. Here is a live action mentoring shot form the launch day.

I am also recovering from the EMEA Kick Off and getting through the North American Kick Off this week.
I had my team in town and there were many meetings and dinners.
I hope you all are well. Aunt Paula called today and said she had a nice video chat with you all on Skype.

We celebrated Pongal

South India celebrated Pongal a few weeks ago. It's a time of holidays and traditions marking the winter harvest. The chanting at the shrines and temples pervade the neighborhoods and kollams (or rangolis) festoon the walkways in front of homes. These intricate designs are done by hand early in the morning, in powdered rice and vegetable colors.

The first day of Pongal includes blessing the working animals: oxen, cows, bullocks. Their horms are painted in bright colors and flower garlands are hung around their necks. The next day, the children are celebrated with special treats. And the third day is a family day of picnics, special food and liquid as well as fervent spirits. The crowds were so dense in Besant Nagar and the beach that we didn't venture in that direction. --- Mom
